Beginning with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization Mission to the Middle East in 1948, the UN has undertaken 64 peacekeeping missions across the world, with varying degrees of success. In 2003 14 missions were under way. More than 2,500 peacekeepers have lost their lives since 1948.
自從聯合國中東停戰監督組織於1948年成立之後，聯合國已在世界各地展開了64項維和行動，並且取得大小不等的效益。在2003年有14項行動正在執行中。自1948年起，已有2500位維持和平人員犧牲了自己的生命。
