[5-6] Ocean Floor / 海床
Only in recent decades have the ocean floors been mapped by sonar and measured to a degree that rivals land geography. This, along with advances in deep sea drilling and mining make the ocean floors a new frontier and battle zone for economic exploitation. UNCLOS (UN Law of the Seas) tries to regulate and solve the resulting conflicts of overlapping claims within the 200 mile Exclusive Economic Zone.
可以與土地研究相提並論的海床聲納掃描測量僅在近幾十年才被開發與執行。如此科技上的突破，加上深海鑽探採礦技術的先進，使得海床成為了經濟開發的新邊境與戰場。因此，聯合國海洋法公約（UNCLOS）也透過相關規定試圖管理與調解於二百海里專屬經濟海域中因為領海重疊所產生的問題。
