In 2024 the original BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India ,China, South Africa) nations are expanding the first time since their founding in 2006. By adding the new (N) members the BRICS+ now comprise 46% of the world population, 43% of all oil production and 38% of World GDP. More countries have applied (A) for membership.
Turkey was offered ‘partner country’ status in November 2024, a new designation that would lead to full membership at a later time.
