Bright dots are sites of mercury contamination, pollution, and poisoning. While mercury exists naturally in the environment, the primary culprit of mercury pollution continues to be Industrial waste. The Minamata Disaster in Japan was the longest lasting case of mercury contamination and is thought to have had the highest human cost.
