Blacked in countries use the death penalty as a legal form of punishment. Black outlined countries have put moratoriums on, or abolished the death penalty in practice, but not legally. White outlined countries have outlawed the death penalty, but reserve the right to use it in extreme cases, as in times of war. Green countries have abolished the death penalty for all crimes. The date in each country represents its last recorded execution.
塗黑的地方標示著將死刑作為合法制裁手段的國家。黑色外框線標示著目前已暫停或是廢除死刑，但尚未立法禁止的國家。白色外框線則標示著死刑是非法的國家，但這些國家仍保留在極端情況下使用死刑的權利，例如戰爭時。用綠色標示的國家則是完全廢除死刑的。每個國家上所標示的日期是該國最後一次執行死刑的紀錄。
